What is "PSS?"
The Psychosocial Development Programme for children aged 5-17 is all about helping children and teens foster the life skills they need to navigate the world with confidence. At its core, it focuses on developing key areas like emotional awareness, communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and social skills. The goal is to equip them with the tools to handle everyday challenges, both inside and outside of school
Life Skills for ages 5-17
For younger kids (ages 5-11), the programme emphasizes things like understanding their emotions, learning how to express themselves clearly, and getting along with others. Through fun, age-appropriate activities like games, storytelling, and role-playing, they learn how to manage their feelings, work through conflicts, and build strong friendships. It’s all about creating a safe space where they can explore who they are, learn self-awareness, and start developing a positive sense of self.
As they get older (ages 12-17), the focus shifts a bit to prepare them for the next stages of life. Teens are introduced to more complex topics like goal setting, decision-making, and managing peer pressure. They learn how to think critically, solve problems, and communicate effectively with both their peers and adults. This stage of the programme helps them build leadership skills, develop healthy relationships, and understand the impact of their choices. There’s also a focus on managing stress and emotions, especially during those turbulent teenage years.
Throughout all ages, the programme encourages empathy, respect for others, and self-confidence. Whether they’re learning to make new friends, solve a conflict, or handle tough emotions, these life skills are essential building blocks for their future success—both in their personal lives and as members of society. By the end of the programme, they leave with a toolkit of practical, social, and emotional skills that they can use for years to come.
