The Heroes Code guides our actions and behaviours. It helps us to honour our commitments and preserve the trust others have placed in us.

At Heroes, we have a duty of care to the participants enrolled in our programmes. In all our activities, the best interest of youth is our priority.

We involve young people in the decisions that affect them and create safe spaces for them to share their views, feelings, and opinions.

We seek to enhance the personal and social development of youth by supporting their participation and active involvement in society.

We work in a fair and inclusive way, promoting justice and equality of opportunity.

We strive to be honest and non-judgmental, and to ensure that we deliver programmes and activities to the best of our ability, in the best interest of the development of youth towards a sustainable future.

We are guided by The Heroes Code.

HATE DOES NOT LIVE HERE

We do not encourage any form of hate in any space.⠀

We don’t engage in bullying, intimidation, acts of aggression, gossiping, or undermining others. ⠀

No Hate includes, but is not limited to, hate speech, sexism, racism, ageism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, or fatphobia. ⠀

EACH ONE, TEACH ONE

Everything has a teachable and learning moment. ⠀

We learn from each other by sharing with kindness and consideration. ⠀

When we engage meaningfully with something, we share.⠀

If we see others engage in a harmful way, we ‘call them in with love’ rather than ‘call out and cancel’.⠀

RESPECT ALL

It’s really simple.

All people are created equally, and we treat everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve.

We honour and appreciate differences and diversity.

We treat others the way we want to be treated.

We work together in love.

OWN UP

We may not always get it right, but we acknowledge our mistakes, communicate with those affected, work to make things right, and get better. ⠀

We learn from our mistakes together.⠀

Accountability is a game-changer

EVERYTHING WITH CONSENT

We do not do anything unless we have the consent and permission of those involved.

We understand boundaries and respect the fullness of ‘no’.

We do not pressure others for information or engagement.

We do not share with others what is not ours to share.

SAFE SPACE

We aim to create safe spaces in all that we do.

We work to ensure that everyone feels encouraged, with a sense of belonging and confidence within these spaces.

We keep our spaces free from bias, criticism, and potentially threatening actions, ideas, or conversations.

We have zero tolerance for sexual exploitation or abuse and encourage immediate reporting of any such incidents.
