By 7:15 p.m., the energy was already building.
Families were arriving. Children were spotting costumed characters. Portrait artists were at work. Sponsors and supporters were greeting one another.
And somewhere in the middle of it all was the unmistakable feeling that this was much more than a regular Friday night at the movies.
On 31 July 2026, The Heroes Foundation welcomed more than 900 people to MovieTowne, Port of Spain for its annual charity movie premiere and special screening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
It became one of the Foundation’s largest fundraising and community events to date.
The pre-show experience included cosplay appearances, live portrait illustrations and door prizes, creating a festive atmosphere before guests entered the theatre.
Yet one of the most meaningful parts of the evening was not what happened on the screen.
Among those attending were 216 children from nine community centres and children’s homes.
For many supporters, that is what the Heroes movie premiere has always been about: creating a memorable experience while also generating resources that allow the Foundation’s work to continue.
The annual premiere brings together several parts of the Heroes community in one place. Corporate partners sit alongside volunteers. Families meet programme supporters. Children experience a special night out. People who may have heard about Heroes for the first time get to see the organisation’s work from a different perspective.
And, yes, there happened to be a superhero movie involved too.
The Foundation extends sincere thanks to every sponsor, donor, volunteer, family member and supporter who helped make the evening possible.
Ticket sales and sponsorship provide valuable support for Heroes programmes, but events like this also remind us why community matters so much to the work.
A foundation cannot build young leaders by itself. It takes people willing to show up. More than 900 people did exactly that.
